A surprising amount of fun. ... The result is just smart enough to feel clever, just silly enough to feel relaxing, a guilty pleasure by design.

BH90210 is wonderful and weird. I’m not exactly sure what I was watching in the first two episodes Fox made available for review (like in a legit WTF is happening kind of way) but I kind of loved it. Just as the original 90210 broke the mold and set the foundation for all teen dramas to follow, this six-episode series breaks the mold on reboots and may very well inform all that follow.

There’s nothing technically new under the sun with BH90210. But it nonetheless feels that way via this fresh approach to what easily could have been a very wrong address.

BH90210 promises a frothy warm-weather watch, perfect for Brendan and Kelly fans to unwind with after a beach day. But the most surprising thing about this particular reboot is how it slips in some valuable life lessons between the soapy storylines.

None of this will make any sense to non-90210 fans, but this show isn’t for them. If you loved the original, BH90210 won’t tarnish your memories — it will deepen them, and maybe even make some new ones.

There are a few extraneous plot points that could have been avoided — no spoilers — but overall this cast seems to be having a nice time reconnecting with each other, both in their real-life and their mockumentary personas.

BH90210 isn’t profound television. It never was. But this 2019 iteration does something that a lot of reboots don’t, which is quench your throwback thirst while acknowledging, on some level, that there’s something sad, a little pathetic, and deeply meaningful about the need to revisit our youth. It also throws in some wacky-ass soap opera stuff to make sure your interest stays piqued.

The decision to do something completely different from teen dramas new and old goes a long way for BH90210. And though the show is in some senses even sillier than its inspiration, the honesty of a story about seven aging C-list celebrities cashing in on nostalgia is unexpectedly endearing.

As midlife crises go, you could do a lot worse than Fox’s “BH90210,” a clever and intentionally cheesy reunion of the original cast of the 1990s high school drama “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

“BH90210” offers a delicious, entertaining return fans will want to gorge themselves on at least initially.

Totally loving the new spin. The writing is great, the humor is on target, and the chemistry between the cast is still there. DefinitelyTotally loving the new spin. The writing is lazy, like final season of game of thrones lazy. The group dynamic feels forced.
Gabrielle's lesbian feelings feels very forced and cringy. Sure, its easier to cover certain topics that were a no-go in the 90s, but was this really the best way to that? In the very very first episode just throw it out there?
Obviously the show also suffers from a missing Luke Perry, one of the more charismatic actors of the original show.

After watching the second episode I started the wonder if I wouldn't be better of watching Sharknado again, which is not a good thing.
