Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is an exciting game. It knows what it wants to do. It wants to give players options, it wants them to feel unshackled by design decisions that offer to gently nudge them in a direction or possibility. It wants to give a platform to four friends to cause chaos in a variety of scenarios. Breakpoint is a freeing game and it has its flaws. But, above anything, it is fun.

Breakpoint tries and does some new things to become something more than a mere sequel, but it also loses its identity in the process. It’s enjoyable with friends, although we wouldn’t recommend it if you’re playing alone.

I’m torn on this conclusion, but I just feel like Ubisoft played it too safe with Breakpoint. There’s not a lot of risks being taken in this game, and it shows. With that being said, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a good game. Unfortunately though, I think it was a step back from Wildlands. Perhaps Breakpoint would’ve benefitted from a delayed release, giving them some time to sort things out. There’s just a lot in this game that doesn’t fit into a Ghost Recon game that many fans have come to love. With the promise of free content drops, there is still time for Ubisoft to turn things around. With all that being said, Breakpoint is in good hands, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is a good game overall. The biggest complaint is that it generally feels like a mashup of other recent Ubisoft shooters and even with some attempts at forging its own identity, it seems like a game we’ve already played recently. In spite of this, there’s quite a bit of fun to had and people who can’t enough of Wildlands or The Division 2 would likely find the same excitement here. If expectations are tempered for a familiar game that is derivative of previous contemporary titles, there’s a lot of fun to be had on Aurora in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, but players expecting something drastically different and new will be looking a long time on the island.

Breakpoint attempts to push the series forward but often feels stuck in the mud from its own systems.

If not for the various technical issues and the focus on microtransactions; Ghost Recon Breakpoint would have been a great tactical shooter, especially when played with friends.

I really wanted to like Breakpoint. Ubisoft has a habit of making mediocre games – Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs – really shine with a sequel, but this is a significant step back. I would rather play Anthem – at least traversal doesn’t make me want to put my head through a window in that game.

I had a blast finishing the first earlier this year. Enjoying this one even more. Only cash store exclusives are cosmetic. There are plenty of bugs, but none have been game breaking for me. I had trouble connecting twice; On each launch day. Connection has been fine since then. Story and mission layout is a step up. New mechanics are interesting. AI is still goofy, but less annoying than before. GettIng a grasp of fluid gameplay has a learning curve, just like Wildlands. Expand

I have not encountered any glitches at this time and I don't also feel the need to buy any micro transactions. I thought the gunplay and vast world was interesting and diverse. The graphics were also very pleasing on the eye. My only complaint would be the cover system and the loading times. Expand

Too many negatives to list on this game from the bullet sponge tech & high level AI, RPG elements, Tier / loot system, always onlineToo many negatives to list on this game from the bullet sponge tech & high level AI, RPG elements, Tier / loot system, always online requirement, social hub, horrible vehicle physics / sounds, disorienting camera views during transitions, classes in the campaign, magical stat / leveling of weapon variants / equipment, etc. .....and then there are the bugs.

Ubi says they listen to their fans but while they seem to take one step forward in one aspect, they take several steps back in others. No one asked for many of the things they introduced in GRB and in some cases, the community had even made jokes about it in the past (e.g. "drone wars").

While GRW wasn't perfect, my friends and I loved it and we also liked their vision. However, I didn't like where they started taking that title with the release of GW, leveling weapons in Tier One or with their fantasy themed DLC. The writing was on the wall at that point that they had no intention of sticking with their original direction for GRW but at least we still had the core campaign that was unspoiled by GW or the other content if you didn't wish to play that.

Read the reviews. Even many of the folks who say they like the game admit they don't like where they took the franchise with GRB. It's always a bit of a compromise with these games but this time there was nowhere near enough there for me to justify putting up with all the things I hate about it.
