Set in Louisiana in 1895, the game boasts a mixture of PvP and PvE elements that creates a uniquely tense experience. It’s not just the creatures who are a threat—it’s every Hunter on the map. In the classic game mode, a match of Hunt pits ten players—playing solo or in teams of two—against each other as they race to take out gruesome beasts for a bounty they must collect and get off of the map, while Hunt’s quickplay mode offers a shorter match for solo players to scavenge for weapons as they compete for a diminishing pool of bounty. The higher the risk, the higher the reward–but a single mistake could cost everything. Expand

Hunt: Showdown is fantastic. The pleasure is immediate and very long-lasting as long as its difficulty does not upset you. It's a visceral and immersive experience that you should absolutely not miss if you are a fan of cooperative games. After 202 hours spent on it, starting from the first days of its Early Access, the situation is clear : Hunt: Showdown is an amazing FPS and it won't be forgotten.

Little did I know that in being tasked with capturing gameplay for week one of early access that Hunt: Showdown would go on to become one of my all-time favorite video games. I’ve actually had to refrain from expressing many of the countless aspects I love. Fortunately, for Hunt’s sake, the majority of its glaring issues were resolved prior to the launch of 1.0. Aside from rare connection issues, Hunt: Showdown is unequivocally one of the best PvPvE experiences of this generation. It’s certainly not for everyone, but if you’re a junkie for hardcore, competitive, survival-based multiplayer in a horrific setting, I strongly recommend paying a visit to the bayou.

Hunt: Showdown is a unique entry in online multiplayer from Crytek who brought tons innovations to the genre. Poor server quality aside, which can be easily fixed in the future, Hunt: Showdown is one of the most unique games in recent years.

Hunt: Showdown is an atypical competitive shooter. A different way to see the online FPS videogames, with great settings and PvP-PvE features.

Hunt: Showdown doesn’t try to do a lot of things beyond its core mission, and the challenging gameplay and limited selection of maps — though they are expansive and interesting — might be a barrier to long-term enjoyment. Assuming the developers keep infusing the game with content, Hunt: Showdown is a fresh take on the genre that has already become a bit stale.

Hunt: Showdown is a little bit DayZ, a little bit PUBG and a little bit Resident Evil. This initial release is strong, with plenty of room to expand. Eventually, new maps, weapons and enemy types will be needed to maintain interest. Hunt: Showdown may not technically be a battle royale game, but it shares enough of the genre’s DNA that I wouldn’t be surprised to see a battle pass in the near future.

There's a lot that works in Hunt: Showdown, from its setting and creatures design to its strong blend of PvE and PvP action. Like the bayou, the game first appears sort of quaint, unique, and interesting to explore. But below the surface, once you get into the thick weeds of it, you end up feeling like there's plenty of places you'd wish to have traveled.

The environments and graphics are phenomenal. The level is the best looking and most immersive I have played in any multiplayer video game.

Progression system is interesting, rewarding skilled players. The weapons are all useful and interesting, with nothing trashy. It would be nice if you could pickup items from dead players though.

There have been some small technical issues, one 'freeze' of the game requiring sign out of windows, and FPS is about 45 with my 1070. Given the slower pace of combat, this is not really a problem, and a fair tradeoff given how beautiful the environments are. Given the bargain price of $30 during Early Access, I'm willing to accept some roughness.

    Highly recommended.

Intense like Tarkov and the gun mechanics are top notch. If you have the cash buy it. I would give 10/10 but thats going a bit far for an early access title. But Boy is this game good. Expand

I dont normally post comments for anything, but I felt I must for this game.

If you're looking for a C-list quality game, then look no further.

Through the subpar graphics optimization, right down to the very core of what I understand about programming, this game is not worth the $30 it sells for.

For one, you can tell through all the bugs and just poor attention to detail. It wants so badly to be a respected FPS, but right down from getting stuck on corners that you should NEVER get stuck on to shooting through walls just doesnt make sense at all. Ive been shot through brick and mortar with pistols and headshot while crouched behind other seemingly impenetrable objects.

Aside from my seemingly **** gaming skills, the game is wildly inconsistent. I have a pretty solid gaming rig that runs most games +120FPS no problem. This game I struggle to get 60 with settings on low.

Additionally, the matchmaking is clunky, the interface with steam is rudamentary and loading times are horrendous.

This is an all around C-list game and it shows. Their programmers are probably Indians (no offense to the race) that are paid way too little to produce a **** of a product in record breaking 1 1/2 years time from beta to launch.

They can't even get their servers straight because many times I will shoot before my opponent does (at least I hear my shot first on my end) and I always end up dying and my opponent is unscathed.

I will not recommend this game to anyone who wants a polished product.

Oh and matchmaking is GAAAAAAAAAAAAAARBAGE. When they say "random partner" they mean that literally in all senses of the word. But, you might as well get use to playing with an NPC for a random because they will match you against much much better players.
