Battlefield V brings a lot to the table. Between the great gameplay, superb story from singleplayer, and customization of your character, there's something for everyone.

After spending quite a while with the game, I’m blown away that there’s still so much to discover. With dozens of collectibles to find in the single player campaign, a seemingly-unlimited number of weekly challenges, and the Tides of War looming large on the horizon, Battlefield V is the best this series has ever been, and easily the best FPS of the season.

With the return to World War 2, Battlefield reaches a new zenith thanks to meaningful innovations - if one disregards the single player.

While I'm happy with what we got, I ultimately can't help but wonder what another six months could've done for Battlefield V. In a business with virtually no downtime, that's just the way it is.

On day one, the game feels a few reinforcements short to pull off the overwhelming victory we’ve come to expect given the series’ strong lineage.

As chaotic and exhilarating as Battlefield has always been. Just don’t expect a dramatic reinvention of the series.

Battlefield V fails to impress the same way Battlefield 1 did. By all means, give it a try if you’re a fan of DICE’s previous work, but know that you’ll have to put up with some pretty glaring faults.

    **UPDATE**

They've reverted all the terrible TTK changes, so I will revert my review change as well.

On December 12th, 2018, they rolled out a TTK update, which essentially reverted all of the hard work the team did to improve gunplay. This update wasn't asked for, as TTK was one of the highlights of the game. I'm changing my score from 10 to 2 due to this atrocious and unwelcome change.

    ** ORIGINAL REVIEW**
I've been a Battlefield veteran for a little under 10 years now, and Battlefield V is by far my favorite title in the series so far. I canceled my pre-order after the beta, but I decided to give it another shot as I love the series. DICE really took the constructive criticisms to heart. There are NO microtransactions in the game at launch, and when they arrive, they will be cosmetic only and no random boxes. All future content is free. The gunplay is comparable to BF3, which many people consider to have the best gunplay in the entire series. The character customization, while lacking an actual character creator, is in-depth enough for people who are into it yet not so in-depth that those who don't enjoy that aspect of a game won't find it tedious and distracting. The gameplay itself is fast paced and has a sense of urgency that I feel was missing from Battlefield 1. The weapon progression is fantastic, and the idea to have the starter weapons full upgraded on start prevents new players from being run over by veteran players (something that occurred in Battlefront 2). I was skeptical when I played the beta, like I'm sure many of you were, but rest assured, the final product is by far worth the money and a fantastic addition to the series. They took the better parts of the previous games, specifically regarding players' feedback, and created, in my personal opinion, one of the best FPS games in that last decade. If you are a fan of previous Battlefields and took a break due to the change BF1 saw in the series, I implore you to give Battlefield V a chance.

Another prime example of the brilliant rating system here on metacritics. :)

    To start with the bad:
    1. it has minor bugs (I mention minor, because they are not that common and they do not ruin the complete gameplay experience at all).
    2. There are some balancing issues I believe mainly the assault class is overall good in everything, the MMGs are ridiculously overpowered (think about insane high magazine, best rate of fire and sniper accuracy over long distance...)
    3. Unlike some ignorant idiots I know women played an active role in WW2, but I do agree their portrayal here is not historically accurate

    The good:
    1. This is visually the most stunning game I have ever played
    2. Overall the atmosphere it creates and the realism factor is great
    3. Once you know what you do it is incredibly satisfying. It has a steep learning curve, but the short lifespan actually feels good when you are at the giving end from time to time. People just need to get over dying in moments sometimes. In war it happens.
    4. The music is absolutely top notch.

Overall I would really rate it 10/10 as I think it is an extremely well made game and honestly nobody would have done it better. None of the criticism listed takes away from the experience in the long run.

All of a sudden there are tons of women characters in the game, and it sounds like a One Direction concert with female characters groaning and screaming all over the place. Also, all the focus on the idiotic visual/pimping of guns is ridiculous. The magic has gone, it doesn't feel like Battlefield anymore, nor like a WW2 setting. I'll be spending all my time on RDR2. Too bad, I've really been looking forwards to this game, but all the political correctness **** ruined it. Expand

Very sloppy production. Tons of bugs in addition to the politically correct trash make me regret I bought it.
